Images and Opinions of Diospyros virginiana from GardenWeb Members| Mulberry - Zone 5 NY | Persimmon 'Meader' with closeup of fruit | The foliage is very attractive followed by orange colored fruit. A handsome tree. Seems to do well here in Zone 5, but the taste of the fruit? Tastes like airplane glue and makes your mouth pucker to the extreme. | Ratings| overall | 9 | | how easy | 8 | | flower | n/a | | foliage | 10 | | propagate | n/a | | fragrance | n/a |

| lord_terabyte - Pollock, La z8 | I have often been told that the fruit of the persimmon is sweeter after it frosts, this seems an old southern belief. I see no evidence of that. I eat the delicious fruit as soon as ripe, most after they drop, and only see a few shriveled remains on the tree by first frost. Sorry mom, I can't believe this one. | Ratings| overall | 7 | | how easy | 10 | | flower | n/a | | foliage | 5 | | propagate | 10 | | fragrance | n/a |

| bloomwoman - Zone 6 | One of our persimmon trees in the winter | We always use the fruit of our persimmon trees. We never have to use any type of fertilizer or nutrients on them. Every year there are new babies springing up nearby the mature trees. | Ratings| overall | n/a | | how easy | 10 | | flower | n/a | | foliage | n/a | | propagate | n/a | | fragrance | n/a |
